Sadness

This is sad. Sad in many ways. Why would such a young, cute little girl do this to herself. She must have hippie parents...
And also anyone who took part in the production of this is destroying feminism. We need to convince young girls to be strong and not fall prey to all the cliche "girly girls"on the media.
And this might just be me but never in all my years have I or will I ever feel the need to go to such a scary place: giant poodles that can eat you up, giant shoes that can stomp on you and break your bones, etc.

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses

Alright, I know I have not been a very good blogger lately and shame on me, but I have had my mind on three most important things : The Beatles, babies and Seattle. I have already covered The Beatles and really at the moment have had my fill with babies so  I will explain about Seattle. That will not be hard it only takes five words and 16 letters (including exclamations) :

I AM GOING TO SEATTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That tells you all you need to know until the 16 when I fly back. I fly alone!

THE BEATLES ROCK!!!!

I'm sorry but they do!  My latest obsession is The Beatles. And they are all over the place. While I've been listening away, I have noticed that they turn up in funny places. Like the other day my friend comes into school wearing a T with their logo and when I asked him why, he says because they rock! Then I learned that my uncle who I've known all my life has always been obsessed! When were you planning to tell me that? Also, a teller at the bank told us she loved the Beatles (especially George Harrison). Even walking around RI, I've seen countless Ts.  Its interesting that its been so long since they've last recorded, and they're still cool! Their music is the definition of timeless. Anyway, THE BEATLES ROCK!!!!

This is one of my favorites (although its impossible to choose one!)

Eat Hummus not Hummers

Eat hummus, not hummers! This phrase can be mistaken for a plea not to eat hummers, but I figured you guys are smart enough to figure out that you drive a car not eat it (but the above would still make sense because while hummers have no nutrients what so ever, hummus would be a much better alternative) . Anyway, hummers need a substantial amount of gas and aren't good for the earth, so don't buy them, eat hummus and read my blog!

yum yum!

The Hunger Games - Panem a Parellel to our world?

What if your whole life you have lived in fear of a cruel Capitol? What if your whole life you have lived in fear of being chosen? What if the person you cared most about was the name they called out, shrill and clear, to go and compete against twenty-three others for a chance at life? What would you do?

When Katniss Everdeen’s sister is chosen to be District 12’s tribute for the Hunger Games, Katniss knows that there is no choice but to volunteer. This choice means an almost certain death, it means becoming piece entertainment for the Capitol and it means being one of the Gamemaker’s 24 puppets. But in the end it means asking the question, do you have what it takes to win, and if you do, living with the memories?

Katniss stands out among the characters that I admire because of the messages her story sends that are parallel with the faults of our own world. The first book is based on the legend of Theseus, but it as the series progresses, there are more and more hints suggesting the roman saying 'Bread & Circus'. Even the basic names in the story, like that of the country, ‘Panem’, and the ‘Hunger Games’ suggest the saying. What I think the writer is trying to communicate is that leaders nowadays are implying the same strategies with the media.

The book also mentions a lot about the different classes. There are 12 struggling districts working for the comfort of the citizens of the Capitol. The people in the city sit back and relax while the children of the districts must fight for their lives, not even conscious about the reality of the deaths of 23 innocent lives, year after year.  It sounds like the way lower class citizens must sometimes risk their lives in the army while we sit back, wrapped up in our own lives.

So finally, the reason that I admire Katniss is because she was vital in the end to the suffering of the Districts. She stopped the constant violence. So in a way she solved all of our problems with hunger and war. It’s refreshing to finally have someone, not necessarily in our world, solving all of the problems and creating a perfect world.

A Change of Heart

I said in one of my earlier posts that I didn't mind Justin Beiber's voice. I have now changed my mind.

I thought nothing could be worse than "Baby" but I was definitely wrong. Beiber has concocted an even more horrific song for the holidays. This is his "present" to us :

Political Opinions On Sesame Street

Today reporters go to Sesame Street to consult these political geniuses about important issues such as the election. Elmo said : " If Mrs. Obama votes for Mr. Obama then Elmo votes to!"

Apparently this is how Big Bird feels: " Well I'm tired. I think people should find their own jobs!" Although the count reminded him of how many people are unemployed:

Several weeks later tired reporters note the creativity of his counting material when he reached 5 million

Below, Big Bird expresses his displeasure.

When asked Rosita said: "Sacarte de mi reporteros locos!" This still leaves english speaking reporters stumped.

It took us exactly 5 weeks and a day to finish this report. ( most of the time spent on the Count). Rosita said: get away from me you crazy reporters!
